Summary
This Web Series will be Internet-based with no live satellite broadcast. It may be viewed online beginning June 30 (Parts 1-3) and November 30 (Parts 4-6) at http://www2a.cdc.gov/phtn on computers with Internet access and Windows Media Player, which may be downloaded at no charge from http://www2a.cdc.gov/phtn. A limited number of DVDs for Parts 1-3 only of the Web Series will be available after the June 30, 2008 presentation and may be ordered at no charge by calling 800-458-5231 or by e-mailing info@cdcnpin.org. For Parts 4-6, DVDs will be available for ordering after November 30, 2008.
The goal of this series is to increase awareness and sustainable, collaborative action by African American leaders regarding the crisis of HIV/AIDS among African American communities and families. Examples of innovative strategies by leaders and available resources will be highlighted. Each part in this series is a 30-minute segment, completely pre-recorded and available online beginning June 30, 2008. Potential viewers of this Web Series should include all leaders where African Americans live, work, play, learn, and worship, including traditional institutions that serve African Americans.
The objectives of this series are the following:
- Provide an update on the state of the HIV/AIDS crisis among African Americans.
- Discuss innovative action plans and strategies by African American leaders.
- Identify opportunities and technical assistance for leaders to initiate and conduct action plans for HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention.
- Describe CDC’s role and activities.
